LEXINGTON - BASED THE CAROLINA LOG CENTER AND ABC’S “EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” BUILD NEW KATAHDIN CEDAR LOG HOME FOR FAMILY IN MAINE

The Carolina Log Center donates time and labor to build first log home in show’s history

PRESS RELEASE - LEXINGTON, SC (October 28, 2005) –The Carolina Log Center, a local dealer for Katahdin Cedar Log Homes, traveled to Wells, Maine to join forces with other Katahdin dealers from across the United States to build a cedar log home for the Goodale Family, recipient of a new log home from the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” hit television show.

“When we heard this family’s story, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help him out,” said David Gordon, president of Katahdin Cedar Log Homes based in Oakfield, Maine. “I am so proud to see our dealers band together and travel across the country to help a fellow citizen in need.”

Katahdin Cedar Log Homes and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” proved that the builder’s theme, “Raise a Roof, Rebuild a Life,” and the design team’s focus were truly about helping a local lobsterman’s family persevere through some rough times by giving them the log home they have always dreamed about. While lobstering off the coast of Maine, Doug Goodale caught his right arm in the boat’s winch and survived the accident at sea by cutting off his own arm at the elbow then steering himself back to shore.

Over 40 dealers from Katahdin Cedar Log Homes led the build along with hundreds of local Maine volunteers to complete the high quality, energy efficient cedar log home in just one week. This is the first time that “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” has built a log home in the show’s history of 49 builds.

The Goodale family episode will air Sunday, November 13, 2005 on ABC television at 8/7c.
